About Us:Saint Louis Canine Search Team was founded on both a love for dogs and the desire to increase safety in the world around us. Our founder, Ben Kenkel, discovered his passion for working with dogs while employed at Stargate Kennel. His mentor, Jan St. John, was owner of the facility and had years of experience in training both police K-9s and personal pets. Through his years of involvement at the kennel, Ben learned the foundation which currently governs his business today.Ben studied Criminal Justice at The University of Missouri – St. Louis and is certified by the Drugbeat National Agency. Ben has also completed a Law Enforcement Handler course at Little Rock K-9 Academy. Ben's ambition, along with his dog's enthusiasm, create a dynamic team to meet the requests of any customer.Mission:Our mission is to reduce the presence of illicit narcotics in the community. The main areas of focus include businesses, schools, and residential homes. We can tailor our searches to your specific needs and look forward to making your environment a safer place.Methodologies:Our dogs undergo a complex training regimen at Little Rock K-9 Academy. They are taught to detect the odor of illicit narcotics (Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroin, and Methamphetamine) by means of positive reinforcement. When the dog passively alerts to an odor, a toy or praise is given, which is ultimately what keeps these dogs working. Our goal is to make "work" fun for the dog as they help keep drugs out of our community.
