Salaam Radio provides community radio services to the local Muslim community primarily and the wider community. Allow external agencies such as the NHS, Police and Local council a platform to share their services to the target audience We fulfil our aims by: - Promoting British Values and culture especially to those new Muslim communities coming to Peterborough in recent years, especially those from Afghanistan and Middle East.- Working to integrate Muslims from various ethnicities including Pakistani, Indian, Afghan and Arabic speaking backgrounds. But not limited to those.- Promote the middle path, tolerant and moderate understanding of Islam- Working to prevent extreme ideas taking route in the community and provide an alternative narrative to counter extremist ideas- Working with various local organisation such as NHS, Police and local authority and allow them a platform to disseminate information to the Muslim community in Peterborough- Providing a platform for all members of the community, whether Muslims or non-muslims and allow them to use the radio station as a platform for airing their opinions.- Providing programming in various languages including Urdu, Mirpuri, Punjabi, Arabic, Pashto, Somali, Kurdish. However majority (approximately 70%) of the programmes will be in English.- Organising meetings, training courses and events.- Working with similar groups and exchange information and share advice with them.- Promoting Unity of the Muslim community and to use the radio as a shared platform to voice their opinion. - Take any action that is lawful, which would help it to fulfil its aims.
