Mission: Empowering our community to live healthy lives; by providing prevention, intervention, and recovery services for children and adults. We opened our doors in 1957. Our mission is to empower our community to live healthy lives; by providing prevention, intervention and recovery services for children and adults. We provide evidence based curriculum training for local students in San Antonio. Our prevention specialists use curriculums like Botvin Life Skills, Kids Connection, Project Heart, Too Good For Drugs, and Project Toward No Drug Abuse. We also offer training for professionals the First Friday of each month. CEU's are provided for LPC, LCDC, CCJP, Social Work, and LMFT. The fee is $35.00 for each 3 hour session. Our Circles of San Antonio Community Coalition (COSA) works on reducing underage drinking and binge drinking. The Coalition meets the second Wednesday of the month at our offices at 3:00 p.m. We have the Prevention Resource Center (PRC) that is a lending library of DVD's and books that include information on substances of abuse and other topics that relate. The Prevention Resource Center also has brochures and is able to do presentations in the community. Annually, the PRC assists with a county wide Red Ribbon Rally Concert put on by the Air Force Band of the West. We offer classes for (8 hour) Tobacco Awareness, (6 hour) Alcohol Awareness, (12 hour) DWI Classes and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Education Program for 10 weeks.
