The San Diego Regional Junior Model United Nations (SDRJMUN) Conference is the longest running conference west of the Mississippi River and is currently in its forty-second year. Inclusive of grades sixth through ninth, SDRJMUN offers an exciting and educational experience for both middle and high school students interested in the fields of international relations, peace-building, and human rights.Each May, hundreds of students from regional middle and high schools spend two days discussing issues that relate to foreign policy, economics, history, and diplomacy. On the agenda this year are topics relating to humanitarian crises, peacekeeping, and global equity. Other issues to be addressed at the conference include human rights, the environment, and disarmamentSDRJMUN is a conference "for students by students." Local high school students set the agendas, read the position papers and resolutions, and chair the committees. Their expertise comes from their own experiences through the JMUN and MUN circuits within San Diego County. The Secretariat is dedicated to providing SDRJMUN delegates with these powerful platforms to intellectual discovery, global understanding, and personal empowerment.Our mission is to develop a rewarding, empowering, and thought-provoking opportunity for young students to achieve an insightful understanding of the world around them.
