The San Diego Shakespeare Society is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the works of William Shakespeare. We hold an annual Student Shakespeare Festival in Balboa Park where hundreds of students perform from his works and compete for awards.The society is pleased to bring San Diego many free events including monthly Open Readings (where anyone can act in a staged reading of a play), bimonthly "Speaking of Shakespeare" lectures, and short performances throughout the year.We also hold an annual Celebrity Sonnets evening where local celebrities perform from Shakespeare's Sonnets.
