Shanghai Sanda University is a full-time private university founded by professors from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Peking University and Tsinghua University in June 1992 under the background of Pudong development. In Aug. 1992, officially approved by Shanghai Higher Education Bureau, it took the name "Sanda University" and started its first recruitment and enrollment of students in the fall of 1992. In Feb. 1994, approved by China State Education Commission, it was officially founded under the name "Sanda College". In March 2002, officially approved by the Ministry of Education, it began to provide full-time four-year undergraduate programs under the name "Shanghai Sanda College" (hereinafter referred to as Sanda, or the University). In Aug. 2005, Sanda was listed as a bachelor's degree accreditation institute by the Academic Degrees Accreditation Committee of Shanghai Municipal Government. In Apr. 2012, it was listed as Shanghai Model Private University Candidate by Shanghai Education Commission. The University has two campuses, one in the Pudong District of Shanghai and the other in Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province, with a total area of 808 Mu (about 133 acres) and a building area of 295,700 square meters. Sanda has teaching equipment worth¥74.667 million, 1037,400 paper books, 1400,000 electronic books and 5037 electronic publications. Currently there are 510 full-time teachers, including 51 with senior titles, 117 with associate senior titles and 347 doctors and masters, among whom there is one Shanghai famous teacher, 5 members of Shanghai Teaching Steering Committee and 2 who got the Shanghai "Famous Overseas Teacher" projects.
