The Foundation is the brainchild of its founder, Dirk van Daele, who saw first hand during his own participation in the Clipper Round the World yacht race how sailing could be used to promote leadership and life skills in disadvantaged young people. Designed for the benefit of the young participants involved, the Foundation's success is the catalyst effect created by the youngsters within their own communities.
