Design - Nottingham, England, United Kingdom
Sarah Turner is an eco artist and designer who upcycles waste materials into new and beautiful creations. She works mostly with plastic bottles and cans, transforming them into unique lighting, pictures, sculptures, flowers and gifts. All of Sarah's work is made in her studio in Nottingham by Sarah and her small team from waste materials she collects from local homes and businesses. Whilst studying for her design degree in 2008, Sarah worked part time in a coffee shop. She noticed that massive amounts of plastic bottles were thrown away so decided to collect them and see what she could create. Now over 12 years later, Sarah's beautiful eco designs have been exhibited internationally at prestigious shows in London, Milan, Paris, LA, Baku & locally in Nottingham where she is based. As well as the retail range we also undertake a variety of different commissions both locally and further afield. Previous commissions include a recycled Dalek for the BBC, a giant suitcase for British Airways made from single use plastic, a plastic bottle elephant, a recycled dragon, a life sized WW1 tank and an illuminated plastic bottle family. She has also been commissioned by Coca-Cola for the London 2012 Olympic Games which included five giant chandeliers and a 9 metre high sculpture for the Olympic Park. Sarah thrives on the challenge of creating a beautiful product from waste materials. She analyses the natural properties and features of the waste material and takes advantage of them, using them in a new and different way.
