Fund-raising - Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Sarvaam Foundation Canada (SFC) is a registered charity with effect March 25th 2021. All accounts activities are transparent and donors are eligible for tax receipt at $25 and above. it is entirely run by volunteers. Our mission as a not-for-profit organization is to help improve the lives of both Canadian and Sri Lankan communities through a variety of charitable projects.SFC was founded after our co-founders visited Sri Lanka and saw first-hand the struggles that families with children with special needs and autism endure due to a lack of awareness, resources and support. Our co-founders decided that something must be done to support families in both Sri Lanka and Canada with a similar lack of support for autism. We have since run three autism awareness events in Canada and have also opened a pilot treatment clinic in Kalmunai, providing physical, speech and occupational therapy to children with special needs. We have also constructed common wells in communities in Batticaloa, Mannar and Mankulam. Our youth have led annual homeless food drives in Toronto and our adults have worked hard to send undergarments to young girls in Sri Lanka. SFC works with local public health officials, school principals and textile directors to identify and financially disadvantaged girls to gift. In 2020 we raised $3300 CDN and provided 458 female students in Sri Lanka, each with a package of undergarments. A $15(CAD) donation covers the cost of procurement, packaging and delivery of three sets of underwear, two camisoles, one bra, and one slip short. While we continue to expand our project scope, our main initiative will continue to remain providing support and services for children with special needs, including Autism spectrum disorder.
