Sarvam Shakti is a revolutionary project of the not-for-profit Sarvam Foundation where girls from urban slums are trained in a holistic educational module for their body, mind and soul. Each girl is trained seriously in 1 form of either Classical Dance/Music or Yogic Sciences. She appears for degrees and diplomas in the same. This goes alongside her formal academic education in schools and Shakti supports this by offering free academic tuitions after school in all formal subjects of learning. They are also given supplementary nutrition and lifeskill training.Shakti girls have performed annually every summer to Europe for arts exchanges, they perform and travel in India and locally within Delhi for showcases of these ancient scientific arts. They are leaders in their schools- recognized by the top management as being all-rounder confident young women. Shakti girls are breaking the societal barriers especially in migrant labour communities from where they hail. Fathers are now a huge support system for our program. The girls have appeared in publications and on National television. They are empathetic, strong, generous, healthy beacons of light for their community and for our country. We believe that there barriers to entry in often exclusive, expensive lineage based art forms such as ours shouldn't be determined by poverty or privilege. These scientific art forms are healing and life changing and must be given a chance to survive in larger numbers. Artistes too get a chance at employment and needless to say the girls benefit en masse. Shakti gives hope. Shakti lifts the spirit. Shakti gives self-worth and inner power. Shakti gives life.
