تأسست الشركة السعودية للكهرباء في الخامس من ابريل لعام 2000 م ، كشركة مساهمة سعودية، بموجب قرار مجلس الوزراء رقم (169) بتاريخ 11/08/1419 هـ، الذي نص على دمج جميع شركات الكهرباء السعودية في المناطق الوسطى والشرقية والغربية والجنوبية، إضافة إلى 10 شركات صغيرة تعمل شمال المملكة وتديرها المؤسسة العامة للكهرباء، لتصبح كلها شركة مساهمة واحدة تعرف الآن باسم الشركة السعودية للكهرباء.رؤيتناأن نقدم لوطننا وعملائنا خدمات طاقة ذات مستوى عالمي.رسالتناأن نمد المملكة بالكهرباء، لنزود العالم بالطاقة.
