Save Habitat And Diversity Of Wetlands (SHADOW) protects more than 100 acres of wetland andupland forest – including a 5,000 year old peat bog and more than 1,300 feet of lake shoreline.We maintain and restore native wildlife habitat on SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve, which isprotected in perpetuity through strategic partnerships and conservation easement agreements.SHADOW offers ongoing and one-time opportunities in environmental education and recreationfor groups of all ages. Practical skills can be learned in a hands-on workshop, field trips areoffered for student and youth groups, expert lectures are presented, mission-orientedcommunity gatherings are hosted, and customized adventures can be planned. In addition toeducation, SHADOW works with volunteers of all ages to continue restoring SHADOW LakeNature Preserve to healthy, viable habitat. Through important relationships with community partners, SHADOW engages and educatesnearly 3,000 people every year. Over 1,000 are students from local and regional schools, whovisit SHADOW for field trips and stewardship projects.
