SCAPE was established in 1999 to provide a national and professional organisational structure to support the practice of counselling and psychotherapy education in Australia.SCAPE aims to foster the professional development and professional identity of counselling and psychotherapy educators as well as maintain high standards of practice and ethics among members and associates. It also aims to celebrate the diversity of the profession and to provide for the professional interests of practitioners in both the broader community and among counsellors and psychotherapists. To this end SCAPE is an active member of PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia) a national federation for counselling and psychotherapy organisations. (For more information on PACFA see http://www.pacfa.org.au)Both PACFA and SCAPE are products of a series of standing conferences that brought together educators from throughout the counselling and psychotherapy field and arrived at a consensus on the type of structures needed to further promote the interests of the profession.ObjectivesSCAPE Intends: * To provide a creative environment where counselling and psychotherapy educators can continue to learn from and with each other. * To promote excellence in counselling and psychotherapy education. * To promote ethical practice for educators. * To enhance professional recognition through consultation and liaison with relevant bodies.BenefitsSCAPE will provide members and associates with a range of benefits including: * Conferences, seminars and workshops and other forums for the exchange of ideas and information about the education of counsellors and psychotherapists. * Opportunities for professional development and networking with other psychotherapy and counselling educators. * Newsletters, website and email interchange to facilitate communication with like-minded colleagues.
