SCAR STORIES was founded in 2011 by cancer survivor, Jasmine Gailer, when she photographed her scar and felt better for it. She has since been an advocate for young adult cancer patients and survivors, helping them heal by revealing what most young adults keep hidden following cancer treatment - the physical scars that remind them of a grim and painful experience. By providing opportunities for positive experiences with their scars through photography, music and art, we aim to:Raise awareness about young adult cancer, an age group for which research shows outcomes improving at a slower rate than other age groups;Raise funds for specialty care for the 18-35 year group; andRun a range of creative projects and free workshops to empower these young people to embrace their post-treatment bodies - scars, disabilities and all.
