SchoolEngg (स्कूलेन्ज) is an initiative that aims at reforming education in India by attempting to influence the process of thought of students.1) The SchoolEngg Show:Our oldest and most formidable product, The SchoolEngg Show was started with the idea of removing the lack of clarity about engineering branches from schools and PU colleges. In India, students choose their engineering branches in heavy influence of their peers, and not on the basis of their interest. In most cases, later on, students end up losing interest in their own branch of engineering. The SchoolEngg Show is essentially a session for Standards XI & XII that guides students on how to select the branch of engineering that is best suited to them. The reach of this product spans across Jaipur and Kota in Rajasthan, Khagaria in Bihar, Kathmandu in Nepal, apart from heavy coverage in the Mangalore-Udupi region. 2) The OutBoxers:This is an inter-school science, aptitude and logical-thinking quiz for students of Std VIII & IX. This product aims to instigate out-of-the-box thinking amongst younger students, i.e., to apply thought rather than to mug up. This works very well in our education system where students are otherwise used to quizzes that test accumulated general knowledge rather than their thinking ability. The first edition of The OutBoxers was successfully organised in Mangalore in January 2015 with a participation of 1300.3) The SchoolEngg Magazine:This magazine was started to motivate high school students of the Mangalore-Udupi region by presenting to them the wide range of opportunities available to them after end of school and/or PU college. The magazine contains information on colleges, exams, achiever experiences, clarification of doubts and much more. Currently, the magazine goes out to a total of 8000 students in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikamaglur and Madikeri every two weeks.
