The Schools Co-operative Society Ltd (SCS) is the apex body of the educational co-operative sector. It is a federal or secondary co-operative, owned by its members. SCS' members are the hundreds of independent Co-operative Schools and other Educational Co-operative across the UK.The Educational Co-operative Sector is a newly emerging sector of the UK Co-operative Movement and offers a new way of organising and running schools. The members of SCS can be Co-operative Academies, Co-operative Trust Schools as well as schools that have adopted Co-operative Values and Principles as their way of working (for example Co-operative Business & Enterprise Colleges.)There are also a growing number of co-operatives now working in the education sector that aim to provide services for schools and education. These can also become members of SCS.The Schools Co-operative Society Ltd is registered in UK under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965 Registration no. 031278RSCS provides a range of services to its members.
