Marc Schreuder – coming from a family of art dealers – has been dealing in Old Master Paintings since 1988. In 2000 the Schreuder & Kraan Gallery was founded, specialising in 19th century paintings and -furniture. Since, the gallery has been gradually expanding its focus to Modern and Contemporary paintings and sculpture. "In our gallery you will find art from very different periods and styles. To me, the true importance of a work of art lies in its quality, rather than its style or the period it stems from. Art historical classifications may help us to understand art, but they should not hinder a free and joyful appreciation without pre set norms and values. Great artists are able to move us with their feelings, emotions and ideas; they let their soul speak through their works of art. We hope this quality is the unifying element in our collection." Besides their gallery activities Marc and his wife Nicole run a shop in the historic centre of Haarlem, where they share their passion for art, culture and fine dining with a growing clientele.
