Schülerpaten Berlin e.V. aims to improve educational opportunities for children with an Arabic migration background and to enhance integration through intercultural exchange in Berlin. In a careful process volunteers are matched to children in need of tutoring. The mentors are trained by experienced instructors in order to acquire basic educational skills and an understanding of the Arab world. The provision of financial means for recreational activities between mentor and mentee ensures that the relationship is not solely restricted to tutoring.So far Schülerpaten Berlin e.V. has initiated more than 600 mentorships since its establishment in 2009. Furthermore, Schülerpaten Berlin e.V. has expanded it's concept to other cities in Germany. Schülerpaten are now active in Hamburg, Cologne and Frankfurt (Main), Dortmund, Bremen and Munich.
