Scitech is a not-for-profit organisation that seeks to increase awareness, interest, capability and participation by all Western Australians in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It was established in 1988 as a company limited by guarantee through the combined efforts of the Western Australian Government, leading industry figures and the State's top scientists and educators. Scitech's mission leads to broad-based benefits to the State through the generation of a population skilled in and appreciative of science and technology. On average, 310,000 general public visit the centre based in West Perth every year, along with around 60,000 school students; an additional 190,000 people annually interact with Scitech's travelling roadshow known as Outreach. Scitech has become Australia's leading exporter of science museum exhibitions which are designed and developed on-site in West Perth and a new exhibition is premiered to the Western Australian public each year. Ten exhibitions are currently travelling across Australia and New Zealand, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Scitech is a member of several international STEM organisations including: ASPAC, ASTEN, ASTC, CAMD, Ecsite, APS and NAME.
