The mission of SAS - The Scituate Animal Shelter is to improve the quality of life for both companion animals and the people of our community by providing shelter, care and placement for homeless animals and additional support through community services and education. We find homes for an average 550 cats, dogs, rabbits and more per year, including roughly a third senior or special needs pets. Located in the seaside town of Scituate, 25 miles south of Boston, we provide loving, temporary care for companion animals that come to us as strays, surrenders from owners , or as transfers from other shelters or animal control facilities. We never euthanize for population control or length of stay – animals remain with us until they find a loving home. We are a non-profit and receive no funding from local, state or federal governmental sources.
