Scrivener Creative Review was founded in 1980 in Montreal, Quebec as a Canadian literary review. Based out of McGill University, the magazine has expanded over the years into a publication of international scope, showcasing original English-language poetry, short fiction, and reviews as well as black-and-white illustration and photography. Scrivener is published once yearly, in early spring, and accepts submissions throughout the calendar year. The Review has a long history of presenting the work of such established figures as Leonard Cohen, Louis Dudek, Seamus Heaney and Margaret Atwood alongside that of emerging younger writers, and we encourage writers and artists of all levels of experience to submit their work.
