Through its affiliates, the Company's primary business is purchasing sub-performingand non-performing loans from financial institutions, including, but not limited to,insurance companies, community and regional banks, and governments. The Company'sspecialty is acquiring loans which are in default for the purpose of either restructuringthe debts to performing credits or to seek legal remedies to enforce the collection of theobligation, which may include, foreclosing on the loan's collateral with the intent toimmediately liquidate or hold for long-term appreciation.The Company is also involved in operating businesses, managing properties, real estateinvesting and development of industrial grade properties as a direct result of its primarybusiness. The Company has elected, through its affiliated companies, to retain long-termownership of the following types of properties and/or businesses to realize long-termappreciation in the asset's underlying value.A) Garden Apartment Complexes;B) Neighborhood Shopping Centers;C) Industrial/Warehouse Buildings;D) Retirement Communities;E) Office Buildings;F) Parking Facilities;G) Residential Condominiums; and,H) Special Use Properties.
