Search Light Inc. is a not for profit organisation dedicated to improving educational and social outcomes for vulnerable children and young people, enabling them to participate fully in the social, cultural and economic life of our community.We work directly with two community access schools, Carinity Education - Southside in Sunnybank and the Hymba Yumba Community Hub in Springfield, providing support for students and their families, helping them to overcome barriers to education and social inclusion.The students that attend these schools are from the economically disadvantaged areas in Logan and Ipswich and are impacted by social issues such as poverty, family breakdown, long term parental unemployment, homelessness, lack of transport and social isolation. Many of the students are Indigenous Australians and some are young mothers.Search Light Inc. runs the Southside Family Centre and Crèche providing free childcare and family support services to the young mothers that attend Carinity Education - Southside enabling these young women to continue their education while pregnant and parenting. While the crèche receives government funding we rely on community support, grants and donations to fund programs to meet the many and varied needs of the families we support.
