The Second Wave Education Foundation was established to introduce, promote and make online education in the 22 French-speaking African countries accessible.Aim and meansTo improve the quality and expand the content of education in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa for children aged 6 to 16, their teachers and the parents. The Foundation does this by introducing online education with the PetitPouss application (www.petitpouss.fr) and increasing access to online education. This will enable children to perform better in both primary and secondary school and will increase the chances of elementary school children continuing their education. Better education is one of the most important prerequisites for a better live (SDG number 4).StructureWith PetitPouss the foundation follows two partly parallel trajectories. Part 1 is the development trajectory of the application. This trajectory has no fixed end date because modules will always be worked on. Modules for other groups, subjects and further education, for teachers, parents and adaptations to local situations. Also we work on actual matters like how the different countries can adapt to climate change, making people more resilient, the prevention of waste, English and other languages. In part 2, the implementation takes place. This means the market introduction and increasing the awareness, such that more and more teachers , schools and children use PetitPouss. The implementation also includes (the search for and) finding solutions for the lack of hardware, making the online tool applicable offline, better internet coverage and access for all children, rich and poor.
