Over 60 % of the existing bridges and buildings in Europe have exceeded their design life span. Nowadays maintenance relies on visual inspections that are subjective, time-consuming and often inconclusive, as they evaluate only the visible and accessible parts of the structure. Our solution relies on vibrational data that reflect the global structural condition, exposing internal structural deficiencies. We introduce the era of data-driven predictive maintenance for structures, where monitoring data are evaluated on the fly by intelligent algorithms and provide real-time health metrics, suitable for data-informed maintenance decisions. By "personalizing" the maintenance planning to the actual condition of the monitored structure, we mitigate the damage risk and can safely extend the operational life of our built environment.
