Selkie is a cross-border marine energy project which brings together leading researchers and businesses to improve the performance of wave and tidal energy devices and technologies developed in Ireland and Wales. This is a partnership project between University College Cork, Swansea University, DP Energy, Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions, Menter Môn and Marine Energy Wales.By creating and testing shared multi-use engineering tools, standards and models, Selkie aims to support developers and supply chain companies to progress towards commercialisation. These tools include technoeconomic models, foundations and mooring designs, sensors and data analysis, array models and operations and maintenance logistics. As part of the project, these tools and models will be trialled on wave and tidal devices to test and improve their reliability, survivability, operability and commercial potential. This project will establish a cross border network of marine renewable energy supply chain companies and over 150 Irish and Welsh businesses will benefit from the project over three years. Selkie is funded through the EU's Ireland-Wales cooperation programme. Find out more at: http://selkie-project.eu/ and follow us on @SelkieProject
