Founded by three friends in response to the current global pandemic, Sending Sunshine is a not-for-profit corporation that seeks to provide a ray of happiness in the lives of the elderly living in Canadian care facilities. Our country's senior citizens are considered to be a vulnerable age group, which is amplified now during the COVID-19 pandemic. With this in mind, we decided to create a not-for-profit corporation that would benefit members of this demographic, especially those who may not have a lot of contact with others. Specifically, Sending Sunshine collects cards containing uplifting handwritten messages written by people in Canada and beyond. These cards are then delivered to various care facilities, where they are ultimately distributed to the residents. By receiving a handmade card, it is our hope that senior citizens will experience more joy and love in their everyday lives.
