SENDirect Details
SENDirect is a personalisation service which launched Nationally in January 2015. The online service allows parents and professionals to: > see what choices are available to them, how much things cost and what other people think of them > access information about rights > access guidance on how to tell what impact particular support or activities could have on outcomes for their child and, crucially, influence the development of new and different services that better meet their child's needs. SENDirect's online service is enhanced by our training, events and consultancy which support organisations to adapt their planning, delivery and financial models to be more flexible and able to meet individual needs. What is SENDirect for? Families have told us that lots of support, activities and services don't meet their children's needs, and that it is stressful and time consuming finding those that do. They tell us that these two challenges have a negative impact on family life. Legislative changes in 2014 will give families the option of arranging their own support packages using personal budgets as an alternative to what is offered through local commissioning frameworks. SENDirect's service has been created to support families to: > Exercise choice and control by providing the information needed to make informed decisions. > Influence the creation of new and better services in response to their needs. > Share their experiences with other families through service reviews and recommendations.
