Hospital/Clinic - Cocoa, FL, US
We are not a social club, we are a Cognitive Therapy Center that focuses on programs designed to extend and hold one's functioning capability, thus improving their quality of life. Since 1997, our professional staff has been able to help families handle the stress, anxiety, guilt and physical strain of dealing with their loved ones who are suffering from Alzheimer's dementia and Parkinson's. We offer a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in the heart of downtown Cocoa village. We are sponsored by the Cocoa Beach Chamber of Commerce, Alzheimer's Foundation of America, and Community Services Council of Brevard County. Our certified staff includes an RN, one LPN, one BSW and three CAN's. Our facility provides stimulating activities, therapy, personal care, training, support groups, counseling, mentoring and a "Learning and Training Center". We encourage high school health students, college and nursing students to experience "hands on" care with our clients as part of their curriculum of study. We try to encourage maintaining the family unit by allowing the frail loved ones to maintain a sense of freedom and dignity. Working with the caregiver and care recipient to keep families intact thus avoiding nursing home placement is the desired outcome in the majority of known cases. Our founder of Senior Care of Brevard determined that "education and how to live a productive, useful life would be our goal. We believe that "everyone has absolute value", regardless of their medical condition. In 1997, our founder established this day care facilities a 501 (c) 3 (non-profit), originally called Rampart Group, Inc., and laid the foundation for the organization of today. In our early years as a nonprofit organization, we investigated research studies specifically to develop a program that would maintain one's functional capability as long as possible. Researchers looked at developing new pathways in the brain through mental, social, and physical stimulation. The reality of Alzheimer's is that it is slowly progressing disease. Everyday caregivers experience the frustration and sadness that accompanies this disease knowing their loved one is trapped in a body that cannot escape. We not only concentrate on our clients, but also pay special attention to the caregivers' burden. Again, we feel it is vital to preserve the family unit. Through the years, we have built and maintained a regular clientele. In October, 2005 Rampart Group, Inc. absorbed Senior Care of Brevard and underwent a change in the Board of Directors. To summarize, what makes Senior Care of Brevard a premier Adult Day Care Center is a dedicated staff that provides specialized care. Included are visits from occupational therapists and stimulating activities, along with visits from our local clergy, local entertainment companies, local churches and our local schools. Our learning and training center, our Virtual Dementia Workshop and our outreach visits separate us from the rest. Our facility is NOT a social club, it is a healing center.
