Senior Smiles Project Details
Working directly with American House senior residences throughout the state of Michigan, our team of high school and college students have written over 700 cards that have been distributed to roughly 25 locations. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, —then high school senior— Tayla Jankowski felt that the senior community had been one of the most targeted and isolated generations. She felt that by combining her love for letter writing and community service, she could make an impact and bring a smile to some faces. Since then, Senior Smiles has expanded to include various high school and college locations throughout the state, including: Marian High School, Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. The Project continues to expand, and the bonds formed through the art of a letter are long lasting.
