Sense Education was founded in late 2019 by Tamsyn Nell. She has a passion for teaching, games and curriculum development. Anyone who meets Tamsyn or has seen her teach, will immediately see her positive attitude and drive to change lives. She has a way with forming relationships with the children she teaches. Tamsyn graduated with Cum Laude in Foundation Phase which is Grade R to 3. She was a classroom teacher for 6 years and has now taken on Sense Education full-time.Tamsyn started enrichment classes as an extra-mural at schools for Grades R to 3. "We need classes that challenge a variety of children to learn more. Interactive classes are required to bring up their self-confidence and show them the fun side of learning," says Tamsyn. We focus on extending their learning and at times going beyond their grade level. Sense Education is geared towards academics that won't break the bank. We include English and Mathematics in the curriculum which are taught on different days. Each class is 40 minutes long and we have allocated slots for the different grades. The lessons are carefully drawn up to increase a variety of skills and understanding of concepts. The small groups allow us to adapt the lesson according to the abilities of the children. The enrichment classes are only taught at specific schools in Cape Town, South Africa at the moment, but we are expanding as time goes on. Tamsyn also teaches online English lessons for Grades R to 3.
