Environmental Services - Trieste, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy
In an era where food production and its supply chain are one of the main sources of pollution responsible for the disappearance of many insects, the growing onset of food intolerance and illness, the goal of Cooperative SerraHub is to promote Sustainable agriCULTURE, making healthy products accessible to our fellow citizens. No pesticides, no herbicides and no GMOs, rather a research on native seeds, species and the preparation of macerates and compost for natural, organic, rigenerative farming. We cultivate a vegetable garden in Divaccia (Slovenia), where we experiment self-sufficient, innovative practices, to maximise crop production and at the same time increase biodiversity. We want to give to Nature, more than what we get. We make our crops accessible to everyone, with deliveries at home and in our headquarter, a cultural polyfunctional activities centre, in the city of Trieste, the 'Serra' (meaning 'Greenhouse'), the place where ideas and art sprout. It is here, through music and entertainment, that many of our fellow citizens of all ages, come to us, discovering later on the principles of sustainability and healthy seasonal nutrition. Here they can access local products, made in symbiosis with the natural cycles, learning how they can take responsibility for their actions towards the enviroment, themselves and future generations. Our idea is not to bend under flags like vegan, vegetarian, crudest, organic etc. But rather to promote environmentally friendly local products, estimating their impact on the ecosystem and resources, seasonality and food awareness. When you stand under a flag you are already violent because you are separating yourself from the rest of humanity - J. Krishnamurti
