Serving Those Serving is devoted to Mental and Workplace Wellness in the service industry community. Employees in the food and beverage industry severely lack resources, and often have nowhere to turn when life hits hard. High-stress jobs, combined with lack of benefits, puts workers at high risk for wellness challenges. We intend to close the gap between our industry and QUALITY ACCESS to public & private resources, such as: - Licensed Mental Health Professionals - Alcohol and Chemical Dependency Counseling - Legal, Financial, and Immigration - Housing, Finance, Transportation, Childcare Our organization was born from the political Facebook group "Service Industry Staff for Change" (SISC). The group's 9000+ members produced petitions, published articles, attended mayoral meetings, and sessions with Minneapolis and St. Paul City Councils. Major municipal and state policies have been influenced by our former and current board members, including the research and implementation of the "Safe and Sick Time Ordinance" in Minneapolis and St. Paul. SISC also remains a hub for employment opportunities and community connections across the state of Minnesota. Serving Those Serving partnered with Sand Creek Workplace Wellness to provide Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) to restaurants, bars, and other food & beverage establishments, their employees, and their families. EAP's are commonly found in traditional workplace settings, but are virtually non-existent in the service industry. Serving Those Serving has the opportunity to bring potentially life saving, live changing resources to a major sector of the workforce in Minnesota and across the United States.
