This one may be familiar to you: "Give somebody a fish and he has food for one day. Teach him how to fish and he will have food for his entire life." But what if that somebody does not like fish, or fishing? Or what if there's no fish around? What if our fishing style is not working overthere? Or what if it is only culturally appropriate to eat fish on Sundays? 7Senses' vision is a world where people are empowered to tackle community issues amongst themselves, independently from traditional forms of western aid. 7Senses' work is focused on facilitating people in discovering what fits their socio-cultural context in tackling community issues, using local talent, manpower, materials and the like. As such, the local community co-creates interventions that are very cost-efficient and that often prevent the problem from happening at all! De 7Senses concept leads to: Sustainable, positive change in local communities *** Less dependency of local communities from western aid or government intervention *** Concrete solutions that fit the local socio-cultural context *** Enhancing local innovation force and sense of ownership *** Development that continues after the facilitators have left the field *** Enhancing local innovation force *** Development that continues after the facilitators have left the field In all of our work we use Participatory Action Research, a form of research in which you not only collect data as in traditional research, but also give it back to the community. As such, the community can reflect upon it and co-create the best fitting interventions to tackle the addressed issue. You can also realize sustainable impact with 7Senses! Follow the 7Senses independent trainings, join the 7Senses Academy or join the 7Senses Challenge!
