The mission of Seyara Meals is to improve food security while also reducing food waste and its associated carbon footprint. The COVID-19 pandemic could nearly double the number of people suffering acute hunger globally, with 265 million people affected by the end of 2020. But the world's farmers already produce enough food to feed more people than exist on earth (enough for 10 billion people annually ), while ongoing deforestation for expanded land development (including agriculture) occurs at a rapid pace—one soccer field of forest was lost every second in 2017 alone—and contributes to climate change. Our vision is a world where more nutritious meals are accessible to more people and less wholesome food (and the resources used to produce it) goes to waste. It's time for new approaches to food security and more efficient use of our planet's resources... starting in Reno, Nevada!
