In 1959, it was upgraded to Shaanxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1961, it moved to Xianyang, a prefecture-level city in Shaanxi Province, is the capital of the first feudal dynasty "Qin Empire" in Chinese history. It is the only institution of higher education in Shaanxi that cultivates high-level Chinese medicine talents. It is one of the 8 key construction colleges and Universities of Chinese medicine determined in the 1978 by Document No. 56. of CPC Central Committee.In 1978, it enrolled and cultivated graduate students in the field of Chinese medicine. In 1981, it became the first batch of Master's degree awarding unit of Chinese Medicine in ChinaIn 1990, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as the first batch of institutions of higher education to receive foreign students, and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Changed its name to Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine in 2015. After more than 60 years of construction and development, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine has become a medical university with the main body of Chinese medicine, and the medical, science, engineering, literature and management disciplines are mutually supported and cross-integrated
