Shanghai Association of Interpreters (SAI) was officially set up in October 2011 by Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (SFROC) and approved by Shanghai Municipal Administration of Social Organisations in March 2012. The Association is a non-profit organization and currently the only official organizational body of professional interpreters in China. With strong connections to governmental sectors, public organizations and universities; SAI provides professional services for its interpreter members and clients as well as promote cultural exchange between China and the world through its multilingual and wide-ranging resources. The Association is comprised of three specialized committees: namely Conference Committee, Public and Commerce Committee, and Chinese Language and Culture Committee.
