A result of 18 months development (working through LCC), with 2 International Summits held jointly with London & Edinburgh and leadership from the Shanghai Government, Private Industry, NGO and Education communities, Shanghai Carbon Valley has been created as a JV between Government and private interests. It represents a partnership between the cities of London and Shanghai and is designed to act as a forum for world cities to come together and share best practice in low carbon development and to act as a focus for accelerating the adoption of technology in Shanghai and elsewhere in China that will address the need to reduce carbon intensity. This is especially timely in the context of COP21 Paris.The project is based in Shanghai Lingang New City, Shanghai's 350sq Km new development designed to be the digital city of the future working at the heart of the national drive to adopt manufacturing 4.0, accelerate climate improvement activity and nurture innovation.The mission of Shanghai Carbon Valley is to:Provide a Global Thought Leadership and Experience Sharing Forum meeting twice a year focussed on Low Carbon World City Development Strategies. ( the next one is in April 2016)Create a Low Carbon destination show case Expo and Technology Accelerator to link to key Global Technologies with scalable projects and partnerships in ChinaEstablish a Low Carbon University to drive education and Research supported by Shanghai Jiaotong University in partnership with world leading institutions Develop a showcase destination, Low Carbon Expo, to disseminate information on environmental challenges and low carbon technology solutions
