Semiconductors - Sheffield, England, United Kingdom
Sheffield Solar is the UK photovoltaic industry's leading scientific data resource. Our research team investigates PV generation potential in the UK, by analysing electricity generation data from PV installations across the UK.If you'd like to help, you can donate data from your solar panels to our research at www.microgen-database.org.uk. Basic About Us: http://sheffieldsolar.tumblr.com/aboutMore Technical About Us: http://www.solar.sheffield.ac.uk/about-us/Sheffield Solar involves four main projects: 1) The Sheffield Solar Farm: studies the performance of solar photovoltaic panels on site. Includes two crystalline Silicon arrays (each around 4kWp), each linked to a 4kWhr Lithion ion battery, as well as a technology test-bed.2) The Microgen-Database: collects generation from all over the UK (new data donors always welcome) for data analysis and research. Also provides information about panel efficiency to donors, and includes a lively forum.3) The Home Solar Energy Calculator: an app for iPad which allows users to calculate the amount of energy they are generating from their solar panels.4) Solar Energy in Future Societies: a collaborative research project based in a post-industrial town in the North of England dubbed Steel Vale. Architects, engineers, physical scientists and social scientists all work together with residents, so that residents' knowledge, expertise and needs can be taken into account when developing renewable energy technologies.
