The Shelton Leadership Center was founded in 2002 following the retirement of General H. Hugh Shelton as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. General Shelton continues to give back to his alma mater, NC State and to help develop the next generation of values-based leaders. As an extension of NC State, the Center seeks to assist individuals across the life-span opportunities to develop and enhance values-based leadership skills and practices emphasizing the importance of honesty, integrity, social responsibility, diversity, and compassion as a leader. The Center's outreach programs focus on inter-generational leadership development within NC State, corporate, governmental, educational, non-profit and youth development organizations.
