In April 2016, a group of local residents created the Sherburn in Elmet Community Trust (SIECT) in order to bring together management groups for the Community Library and the Old Girls' School. Working together, the charitable trust (Registered Charity No. 1166770) could combine valuable resources and knowledge to allow both community buildings to develop and thrive.The objective of Sherburn in Elmet Community Trust (SIECT) is to benefit the communities of Sherburn in Elmet, North Yorkshire, and surrounding villages by the following 3 elements:1. Providing and maintaining a library and information service.2. Providing and operating The Old Girls' School Community Centre.3. Employing a Community Development Manager to coordinate and develop community projects as well as publish a community newsletter and Welcome to Sherburn in Elmet booklet.
