The Sherwood District Australian Football Club incorporates the Western Magpies, Sherwood Juniors and Woodsmen Australian Football Clubs.The Western Magpies have 3 senior sides competing at the highest level of community football in Queensland, the QAFL State League with Seniors, Reserves and Colts. They also now incorporate the Woodsmen Senior Side who compete in the QFA Friday night competition.The Sherwood Junior Australian Football Club has 300+ active junior players and was established in 1956. Combined with the Western Magpies, the Sherwood Magpies are the largest Football Club of any code in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane in active player numbers from Auskick through the Senior Football.Drawing players from the immediate vicinity of the clubs prime location in Chelmer, just 6km west of the Brisbane CBD, players also come from as far as Dalby to represent the Magpies in both Youth and Senior Football.We are a club that aspires to create an environment that nurtures & teaches young aspiring participants to play Australian Rules & have done so for in excess of 60 years in the Western suburbs of BrisbaneOur goal is to continue to encourage an environment that is stimulating to all levels of ability & age groups for all participants through structured training & development & fun that in turn encourages a continued level of commitment from players, supporters and parents.Catering to players of all abilities in both junior and senior football, the club has created an inclusive environment for all. Providing a clear talent pathway for players seeking to test themselves at the highest level, while also providing various options for participation in a quality club culture. The Sherwood Football Club is also fantastic community venue and function centre located in Chelmer and has competitive function packages for a variety of events and community groups that includes free use of our expansive function room.
