Shift Prosthetics (SHIFT) is a start-up founded by engineers designers with a vision to make prosthetics and orthotics more comfortable, functional, adaptable and available to the world. Our background spans medical devices, manufacturing, software technology, 3D printing and design, complex engineering and together, we are building a more confident future for those who struggle through limb loss.Today, SHIFT designs and manufactures medical grade silicone prosthetics and orthotics, utilizing state-of-the-art 3D scanning and printing processes. We're exploring aesthetic solutions as well as sport-specific assistive devices that make safety and competition more viable for athletes. Additionally, Shift is currently undergoing research and development efforts to gain traction to socket advancements. We see an opportunity for combining 3D technologies alongside traditional socket manufacturing procedures to create a more sustainable socket for the amputee population. Our cosmetic process begins with creating a mirrored replica of the patient's remaining extremity. Through intricate detailing, including matching the patient's bone and tendon structure, vein mapping, body hair, and pigmentation, our prosthetic will be so life-like that the human eye cannot differentiate between biological tissue and manufactured product. Further, with the ability to introduce flex joints into the highly enhanced detail and texture, SHIFT gives the next generation of cosmetic prosthetics additional range of motion.Long-term, our team of clinical innovators and engineers are looking to AI and robotics to bring the ultimate functionality and realism to the amputee, allowing the patient to feel comfortable in their "own" skin while completing tasks and activities that were once impossible following limb loss.
