For the last two decades, Shlomit Rubin has been practicing as a psychotherapist specializing in individuals, couples, and families, focusing on women and their sexuality, pre and postpartum experiences, fertility issues, and the impact of divorce on children. In her private practice, located in the West Village, Shlomit integrates Psychodynamic therapy, mentalization, and attention to bodily sensations to help clients become more aware of the mind-body connection and develop a greater understanding of their lived experiences.Born in Israel, Shlomit moved to the United States in 1986 and worked as an educator prior to earning her Master's Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. She went on to become a certified psychoanalyst and member of the Contemporary Freudian Society. For more than twenty years, Shlomit has trained and worked extensively in the mental health field, deepening her knowledge and integrating different modalities and techniques into her practice. She completed a three year training with the Annie Bergman Parent Infant Parent Program and earned a certificate in Parent-Infant Psychotherapy. Moreover, she holds a certificate in Adolescent Psychotherapy from New York University's Institute for Psychoanalytic Education. Most recently, Shlomit became a certified Somatic Practitioner and utilizes mind/body connection strategies to help her clients increase awareness and understanding. For the past twelve years, Shlomit has been studying individual and couples sexuality and is an associate member in SSTAR.
