Retail - Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Shopping Paço do Ouvidor is the most important mall of the entire downtown area of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Built in 1994, it is composed of three base floors of shops, and 12 upper floors that compose one of the most modern, state-of-the art office towers of Rio.The building is approximately 13.000m2 (or 130.000 square feet), and was built in the most important street for retail in the entire "Centro" of Rio: Rua Gonçalves Dias, on the corner with Rua do Ouvidor and Rua Uruguaiana. It is a very special location, as Rua Gonçalves Dias is a very "chic" location, usually where one finds the best cafes and clothing shops of downtown, and on the other hand Rua Uruguaiana is the busiest street for popular commerce, as well as for buying electronics.Shopping Paço do Ouvidor is a well-mantained piece of Real Estate, a shiny mirrored building in the heart of the heritage district of Centro, surrounded by 100-year-old buildings. Its mirrors reflect this.Employing almost 500 people, the "Paço", as people often say, is a "NO STRESS PARADISE", with air conditioning, wi-fi internet, background music and a place to seat and calmly have a drink in the middle of the hectic Rio de Janeiro Downtown.
