I create mixed-media images beyond imagination for my equine, pet, and people clients.I am excited by novel images, and novel ways to display images. The display is as important to me and as much a part of the finished piece as the image it displays. These images and pieces are affirmations of the connections I seek in my relationship with my horse and in my life. I try to bring the elements of comfort, connection, intensity, reverence, softness, and stillness into my images, as those elements make up what I experience in the presence of a horse. My goal is to create finished pieces with depth and sophistication that have an element of universal familiarity.Most of my newest work is created with techniques that have been combined or adapted to suit a particular piece. Sometimes I work with materials such as wood, metal, leather, paper, canvas, paint, or whatever seems "right" for the piece. There is a tactile and meditative pleasure in working with these materials, and even when I'm struggling to wrestle them into existence there is joy in the experience. As with anything horse-related (and I know horse people will understand), sometimes there's cursing, too. Here's to the balance - in the saddle, in art, and in life!
