Nonprofit Organization Management - Dhaka, Dhaka Division, Bangladesh
"Shruto" is a non-profit, voluntary organization which provides a platform for the visually impaired people to get the unique taste of literature.About three and a half lakh people of Bangladesh are visually impaired, and within these three lakh people, most people are far away from getting any special consideration. The rest of the fifty thousand people get the opportunity to go to school but the lesson is affixed within braille. They do not have the opportunity to read books outside of textbooks, to dive deep into the world of literature. And keeping their problem in mind, the journey of "Shruto" has started. A small but enthusiastic effort was made to convert books to audiobooks to give those special people a taste of literature. And this little idea has added 200+ people throughout Bangladesh, who are working voluntarily; being the voice of the books and creating a huge collection of literature for the visually impaired people. "Shruto" not only does the audiobook work, but it is still working in the areas where education has not yet reached the eyes of the visually impaired people. And it is one of the targets of "Shruto" to create interest in literature for them so that they do not stop only with the fun of literature. It is said that there is a story behind everything. Nevertheless, "Shruto" also has a very touching story, to begin with.It was 2016, the story took place in the bookfair of Khulna. As a book enthusiastic, I went to the book fair. There were thousands of people in the crowd. What caught my eyes was a boy aged 20-21 years, I understood that he was visually impaired. He also came to the book fair of his love for books. With him, there was another guy, who would be 5-6 years older than him. He reads something from the first page of any book. The boy with vision disability judges the book by hearing. And then buys book according to his taste. In spite of curiosity, I asked the boy with him how he would read these books. In return, I came to know that this boy is the elder brother of the disabled child who recites these books to him every day after he had come home from his office. But nowadays he couldn't afford too much because of his busyness. This kind of love and enthusiasm for books has inspired me to create this website for the disabled people where gradually thousands of people like him would be able to taste the literature through "Audiobooks". Thus with the moto "The light of eyes will be found through books", "Shruto" has started its incredible journey.
