Our journey started back in 2014, when things took a turn for the worst that left Nadia Sarker, our founder's father Mr Hanif Sarker, paralysed. Even though he was improving, he couldn't eat like before and always needed help. This helplessness that Nadia felt made her realise the other side of the coin, and so she asked herself,"Despite all the success my father has achieved in life, he couldn't do anything about his paralysis. The pain of my father not being able to eat makes me think about all the people out there who genuinely do not have any means to support themselves.Who is helping them? She then started to take action, began cooking every Friday, and distributed the food among 20-30 people. After a few months of doing this, Nadia partnered up with a local restaurant that would cooperate with her and share shingara, samosa among municipality workers.Like this, once a week turned into twice a week. She even gradually began to connect her close friends in her motivation. Whenever they would go to a restaurant, after clearing the bills, she would urge her friends to contribute a portion of the bill to the noble cause. After that, word began spreading, and she started growing a lot of funds through her friends and word of mouth. More and more people eventually got involved. Then in 2020, after the pandemic hit the country, she became worried about the working-class people. So she started to feed more than 300 people per day with no stoppage since the pandemic, and so after seven years of operation, we finally took off under the name of SIDRAH FOUNDATION.
