Construction - John D'Or Prairie, Alberta, Canada
The business was established in 2012 and our focus is in the home construction and renovations industry. However, this is not where we differentiate from any other renovations or home builders in Western Canada. We are 100% Aboriginal Company that have a diverse group of employees, and have acquired professional and certified staff to get any small or big project done at a competitive price. Conroy Sewepagaham started the company on the foundation of his cultural and science background utilizing teachings and wisdom from traditional ecological knowledge and ancient sustainable strategies. Our business model echoes what current animals and the various ecosystems have been doing for millennia in the northern Boreal Forest of Canada, but also, the model of sustainability that is known as Pimâcihowan from the Boreal Cree in Northern Alberta. Pimâcihowan are a set of principles with the foundation of respect and cultural sustainability and it is deeply rooted in all levels of our company operations. One such biomimicry is minimizing waste within our operations, but also requesting our client base to use eco-friendly products when it comes to renovating or building a new home. We are also in the process of exploring various systems to monitor our carbon footprint and find a sustainable solution in lowering our overall environmental impacts on this land as a small business. We have our SECOR, appropriate insurance coverage, a member of the Canadian Green Building Council, Workers Compensation Board (WCB Coverage), ISO 14001:2004 (in-progress) and making safety for our employees a top priority. We believe that incorporating environmental initiatives to any small business should be mandatory in hopes of having our planet a habitable place to live in, not only for our kids, but for their kids as well. Oh, did we mention that we are also an active member of the 1% Of the Planet? When you acquire our services, you also help by giving back to Blue.
