Publishing - Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain
Sinera combines craftsmanship, culture, and elegance to bring you beautifully illustrated, limited edition works in English. Our books showcase rare or unpublished artwork by world-renowned Catalan artists such as Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró, amongst others. The story of Sinera began long before it was created. It is the international imprint of Grup Enciclopèdia Catalana, which was established in 1965 with the release of the first ever volume of an encyclopedia in Catalan. Since then, the group has diversified into publishing a wide array of literature including illustrated works, children's books, text books, educational resources, and online content. The first volume of the Catalan Encyclopedia was an ambitious and unprecedented project, written entirely by hand. To honor its past, the group continues to strive for the same level of innovation and craftsmanship. Today, the works published by Enciclopèdia Catalana dominate the local market thanks to their outstanding level of quality and exclusivity, making them an indisputable reference for thousands of readers.Since its beginning—in a time when the Catalan language was oppressed, and even prohibited—the group has become a symbol and leader in the Catalonian publishing world. Its mission is to promote and support the Catalan language and culture, not only within the Catalan-speaking territories but on an international level as well.Following in this tradition, we are passionate about bringing the art of universal Catalan artists beyond the confines of Catalonia of Europe, and into the consciousness of the English-speaking world. In that spirit, we chose a motif designed by contemporary Catalan artist Joan-Pere Viladecans for one of our previous Catalan-language editions as the logo for this new venture.
